About Us

John and Jenny Edmondson own and operate Wavelength Reef Cruises in Port Douglas. They both studied marine biology and, besides dive and snorkel tourism, have experience in aquaculture research. In 2017 they started a research partnership with the University of Technology Sydney's Future Reefs team.

Following severe coral mortality caused by mass coral bleaching in 2016 and 2017, they used this experience to pioneer the role of GBR tourism operators in coral propagation and planting as part of ongoing care of tourism reef sites.

John conceived Coralclips to fill the need for a convenient, rapid, low cost, chemical-free method of out-planting coral in a tourism setting. Coraclips enable outplanting to be integrated into scheduled tourism trips massively reducing the cost of coral planting, as vessel transport is often the largest portion of out-planting costs, especially with sites far offshore.
